Totara Mobile theme settings

Article summary

Mobile theme settings

As a Site Administrator you can configure the theme for your mobile app by going to the quick-access menu and then Plugins > Mobile > Mobile theme.

By making a few simple changes you can ensure that your mobile app is on brand and consistent with your site. Remember to select Save changes when altering the mobile theme settings described below.

If you have made changes to your mobile theme then these will not be applied for each user until that user logs out and logs back into the mobile app.
SettingDescriptionNotes

Mobile app logo

Here you can upload an image that will be used for your mobile app's logo. This will be displayed on the app's login screen where the user will enter their username and password.

By default there is no mobile app logo. If you do not upload your own logo then the Totara logo will be used instead.

The mobile app logo appears on the login screen for Native mobile app authentication only. For Webview or Mobile browser authentication the authentication screen displays the Totara browser authentication screen.

Note that the SVG image file format isn't currently supported in Totara Mobile, so ensure that you use another file format for the logo image.

Primary colour

Here you can select the primary colour for your app. This colour will be used for certain buttons, or to highlight selected options (such as on the bottom navigation bar).

You can select a colour from the colour panel by clicking on the panel. When you hover the cursor over the panel the top-right square will show the colour you are over. Your selected colour is displayed in the bottom-right square. Alternatively, you can enter a hexadecimal value underneath the colour picker, for example if you want to use a specific brand colour and know its hexadecimal value. When you select a new colour from the panel, the hexadecimal value will be updated.

Text colour

This setting lets you select the text colour for buttons in your app. You can choose between white and black text.

The default value for app text colour is white, but if you are using a light Primary colour you may want to use black text for better accessibility.

Themed elements

Here you can see an example of the Current learning page with the mobile theme settings configured. Here the icons in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen are shown in the chosen Primary colour. Additionally you can see the logo uploaded by the user displays at the top of the login screen, and buttons such as Enter are also displayed in the Primary colour. The Text colour has been set to white, which you can see on the Enter button.
