Show or hide a category

Prev Next

When a category is visible learners are able to see it. When a category is hidden only users with the appropriate permissions can see the category. You may want to temporarily hide categories while you add courses, or for courses you no longer want learners to access.

Note: Hiding a category controls whether users can see the category. If audience-based visibility is enabled, course visibility is controlled on each course. A course set to All users is visible to all site users, while a course set to No users is hidden from the catalogue, Record of Learning, and Required Learning. To limit who can see a course, update its Audience-based visibility setting or use an audience’s Visible learning tab.

To show or hide a category follow these steps:

  1. Go to Quick-access menu > Courses and categories.

  2. Find the category you wish to show or hide.

  3. Click the show/hide eye icon to toggle between visible and hidden (when the eye is open the category is visible, when the eye is closed the category is hidden).

The capability to view hidden courses when applied to a category will enable hidden courses in subcategories to be viewed.
