    Create nested restriction sets

    Article Summary

When restricting access to an activity or resource, simple restriction rules may not be sufficient for your requirements. Instead you can create a set of nested restrictions to apply complex logic to activity access.

Follow these steps to create nested restrictions:

    1. Navigate to the course and select Turn editing on.
    2. Click Edit next to the activity for which you want to restrict access.
    3. Expand the Restrict access section and click Add restriction.
    4. Select Restriction set.
    5. You can select whether the learner must or must not match the specified completion criteria.
    6. You can now see a restriction box which while contain your nested restrictions. Select Add restriction... within this box to choose the required condition type.
    7. Enter the relevant details for the selected condition.
    8. Select Add restriction... within the restriction box to add another condition.
    9. Repeat until all required restrictions have been configured.
    10. Finally, select Save and display or Save and return to course to confirm your selection.

To cancel without saving, click the X delete icon.
