# Approve or decline a workspace request

As a Workspace Owner or Site Administrator you can see [requests to join a workspace](/18/docs/join-a-workspace) in the **Members** tab. Simply click **Approve** to give a user access to the workspace, or **Decline** to deny access.

If you decide to decline a request you can enter a message (using a free text field) to explain why you have declined the request, should you wish to.

To approve or decline a request, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Collaborate > Your workspaces*.
2. Select a workspace.
3. Select the **Members** tab.
4. Click **Approve** or **Decline** alongside the user's name.
5. If you choose to decline then you can optionally enter a reason.

The user will then receive a notification to let them know whether their request has been approved or declined.
