If you need to perform maintenance on your Totara site then it is recommended that you enable maintenance mode. This will prevent users from accessing the site whilst you perform maintenance.
To put your site into maintenance mode, follow these steps:
- Go to Quick-access menu > Server > Maintenance mode.
- Change the Maintenance mode dropdown to Enable.
- You can optionally enter a message to be displayed e.g. 'The site is down until [ insert date] for routine maintenance.'
- Click Save changes.
If you choose to display a message then when a user tries to access the site it will be displayed under the default message that reads: 'The site is undergoing maintenance and is currently not available'.
Once you have finished maintenance remember to turn maintenance mode off again.
- Go to Quick-access menu > Server > Maintenance mode.
- Change the Maintenance mode dropdown to Disable.
- Click Save changes.
