# Edit a competency

After you have [created a competency](/18/docs/add-a-competency) you may later want to make changes to it. You can edit any of the competencies in your framework by following these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Competencies*.
2. Click the name of the competency framework you wish to update.
3. Click the edit icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/cog.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T12%3A48%3A22Z&se=2026-11-07T13%3A48%3A22Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=czfOq%2F0rvbC5aH9OPF8qgPqJ1Cyow5Wc1nQk0DQTQHs%3D)) in the **Actions** column for the corresponding competency item.
4. Make the required changes to the [settings](/18/docs/competency-settings).
5. Click **Save changes**.
