# Export competencies

Site Administrators can export all [competencies](/18/docs/what-are-competencies) (grouped by framework) and their associated fields in either the Excel, CSV or .ods format.

To export your site's competencies, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Competencies*.
2. Select the name of the competency framework you wish to export from.
3. Select the required format under **Export all items from framework**.
4. Click **Export all items**.

The export file content structure is suitable for use in [HR Import](/18/docs/what-is-hr-import). You can use HR import to add or update competencies.
