User-generated content types

Article summary

In Totara Learn there are several types of user-generated content that can be created via the library. These types are detailed below.

Resources

Resources can be used to share articles, videos, and links with colleagues. Resources can include text, hyperlinks, embedded images and videos, and file attachments.

Playlists

Playlists are curated selections of resources, courses and surveys. Users can create playlists of user-generated content on themes that would be useful to other users.

Surveys

Surveys consist of a single question, for which respondents can select one or more answers. Surveys are used to gather feedback and opinions.

If you have enabled multitenancy on your site then users won't have access to contributions from other tenants. If you have enabled tenant isolation then additional restrictions will apply.
When a user account is deleted, any Totara Engage content created by that user will also be deleted.

Courses

If you have existing courses on your site, you can add these to a workspace library, providing a convenient link to any courses that are relevant to the workspace.

The Totara Academy has a whole course dedicated to using playlists and resources in Totara. Here you can find out more about creating, and sharing playlists and resources, as well as find best-practice guidance.
