# Add a tag collection to a tag area

You can add a tag collection to a specific [tag area](/19/docs/enable-tag-areas), so that all of the associated tags will be available in that area of the site. You will need to [create at least one custom tag collection](/19/docs/add-a-tag-collection) to be able to do this.

1. Go to *Quick-access > Appearance > Manage tags.*
2. Scroll down to the **T****ag areas** section.
3. Click the pencil icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/edit.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T17%3A24%3A51Z&se=2026-11-01T18%3A24%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2BvU%2Bl8bDaifpy0T4qSA3b0fACWJ0RFvfdmfDb8upVwQ%3D)) in the **Tag collection** column next to the tag area you wish to add the collection to.
4. From the dropdown menu choose the collection you want to use.

As soon as you click the collection to choose it this will be set. There is no save button.

Note that the **Engage** tag area can be set to use any tag collection, but the tag behaviour will always be set to **Force**, meaning typical users will not be able to add new tags, and will need to select from those in the chosen tag collection.
