# Bulk add competencies

If you have multiple [competencies](/19/docs/what-are-competencies) you wish to add then you can add them in bulk.

To bulk add competencies, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Competencies*.
2. Click the name of the competency framework you wish to update.
3. Select **Add** from the **Bulk actions** dropdown menu.
4. Select the **Parent** competency.
5. Enter each competency item you wish to add on a new line (i.e. one per line).
6. Choose the **Non-admin assignment availability** (to allow either self-assignment or assignment to others by those with the correct permissions).
7. Click **Save changes**.

Your new competency items now appear in the competency framework.
