# Create a dynamic audience

A dynamic [audience](/19/docs/what-is-an-audience) is fluid, meaning it will update automatically based on the rule set that dictates membership, e.g. if a user is assigned to a certain position or moves to a certain location. Dynamic audiences are useful if you need to manage large groups where membership is likely to change frequently, such as an audience of staff joiners.

To create a dynamic audience, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Audiences*.
2. Select the **Add new audience** tab.
3. Complete the [settings](/19/docs/dynamic-audience-settings) as required.
4. Click **Save changes**.

You will be automatically taken to the **Rule sets** tab for this new audience. This will allow you to set the [criteria for membership](/19/docs/audience-rules).
