# Customise the quick-access menu

If a user has the **totara/core:editownquickaccessmenu** capability, they will be able to customise their own [quick-access menu](/19/docs/what-is-the-quick-access-menu) and add/remove areas to which they have access. Users who do not have this capability but can access site administration functionality will only have access to the default quick-access menu.

To customise the quick-access menu, follow these steps:

1. Click the cog icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/quick-access(1).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A45%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A45%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kwtHDzwp7ySTzTTImlFRlZpx2PhSND2iReAcQQqWc5Q%3D)) to open the quick-access menu.
2. Click **Menu settings**.
3. Use the up and down arrows (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/arrow_both.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A45%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A45%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kwtHDzwp7ySTzTTImlFRlZpx2PhSND2iReAcQQqWc5Q%3D)) to change the order of the groups.
4. Click the pencil icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/edit.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A45%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A45%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kwtHDzwp7ySTzTTImlFRlZpx2PhSND2iReAcQQqWc5Q%3D)) to rename a group. Change the text as required, then press **Enter** to confirm, or press **Esc** to cancel your changes.

There is no save button, so you can simply navigate away after making your changes.

Use the **Reset admin menu** button in the top-right corner to reset the administration menu to the default configuration.
