# Delete a competency scale

If you decide you no longer require a [competency scale](/19/docs/create-a-competency-scale) then you can delete it. You are not able to delete a competency scale that is currently in use.

Follow these steps to delete a scale:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Competencies.*
2. Scroll to the bottom of the **Manage competencies** page.
3. Find the competency scale you wish to delete.
4. Alongside it click the delete icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/delete-a-competency-scale-image-dmydsjyw.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T20%3A33%3A59Z&se=2026-11-01T21%3A33%3A59Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=o%2F95WaeaW4QuqEmJ0IzZQrEQWX0SrX191IrN5qxO25E%3D)) in the **Options** column.
5. Read the warning message and then click **Yes** to confirm.
