# Drag and drop onto image quiz question

The drag and drop onto an image question type behaves much like the [drag and drop markers](/19/docs/drag-and-drop-markers-quiz-question) question, but allows both images and text to be added to a background image.

To set up a drag and drop onto image question, follow these steps:

1. In the quiz activity, click **Add**, then select **a new question**.
2. Select **Drag and drop onto image**, then click **Add**.
3. Give the question a name, then enter the question in the **Question text** field.
4. Set the **Default mark**, i.e. how many marks the Learner will be awarded if they answer correctly.
5. Click **Choose a file** or drag and drop a file to upload a background image.
6. Define each **Draggable item** by selecting the **Type** and adding an image and text as required. Optionally group the items using the **Group** dropdowns.
7. In the **Drop zones** section, assign a drop zone to each of the correct items. Optionally add text that will appear in each drop zone.
8. In the **Preview** section, drag the drop zones into place on the background image. You can now see the coordinates for each drop zone have been populated in the **Drop zones** section.
9. Either enter feedback for correct, partially correct and incorrect answers in the **Combined feedback** section, or use the **General feedback** field.
10. If required, configure the **Multiple tries** and **Tags** sections.
11. Click **Save changes**.

Drag and drop question types do not support the GIF image format.
