# Edit a competency framework

You can make changes to a competency framework after you have [created it](/19/docs/create-a-competency-framework). After creation you can change the name, ID number, and the description of your competency framework. You cannot change the competency scale that is used.

To edit a framework, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Competencies.*
2. Find the competency framework you wish to edit.
3. In the **Actions**  column, click the cog icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/cog.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T17%3A00%3A29Z&se=2026-11-01T18%3A00%3A29Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=qq52C1cEEjuoYoOKcRVnr2detM%2BxZUSQJh1dWo2LBg4%3D)).
4. Make changes to the relevant fields.
5. Click **Save changes**.
