# Edit a tag

You may wish to make changes to one or more [tags](/19/docs/what-are-tags) contained within a collection. You can edit the name of the tag, add a description, change whether the tag is 'standard' and add related tags.

1. Go to *Quick-access > Appearance > Manage tags.*
2. Click the name of the collection containing the tag you wish to edit.
3. Click the pencil icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/edit.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A23Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A23Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=FDaZYHkdFexWrBnOD4zmWFYBP8ftqvHbNN5LQHqst6w%3D)) next to the name to quickly edit it (pressing the **Enter** keyboard key when you are done).
4. Click the cog icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/cog.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A23Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A23Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=FDaZYHkdFexWrBnOD4zmWFYBP8ftqvHbNN5LQHqst6w%3D)).
5. Edit the settings as you wish.
6. Click **Update**.

You can also access the **Manage tags** interface through a course by clicking the **Manage standard tags** link in the **Tags** section when editing course, activity or resource settings.
