Navigate to *Quick-access menu > Development > API > API Clients*. 2. For the client you want to edit, click the icon of three dots (![three_dots(1)](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/three_dots(1).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T15%3A49%3A06Z&se=2026-11-01T16%3A49%3A06Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WIaM%2BTZfLYYy%2FccY76qQObFd7op8zQ%2FY0q5vcPPqm%2FY%3D)). 3. From the dropdown menu, select either **Edit client details** to edit the client's name, description, service account and status, or select **Edit client settings** to configure the [client-specific settings](/19/docs/api-client-settings). 4. Configure the settings as required, then click **Save**. If there is a problem with this client's service account, you may see a validation error for the service account. Select a new valid service account user and click **Save** to fix the problem. See [API service accounts](/19/docs/api-service-accounts) for more information. ![The two options for editing an API client.](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1677684381747.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T15%3A49%3A06Z&se=2026-11-01T16%3A49%3A06Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WIaM%2BTZfLYYy%2FccY76qQObFd7op8zQ%2FY0q5vcPPqm%2FY%3D) ## Next steps - [Enable or disable an API client](/19/docs/enable-or-disable-an-api-client) - [Delete an API client](/19/docs/delete-an-api-client) Join the [Totara Community](https://totara.community/) for more resources to help you get the most out of Totara. © Copyright 2026 Totara Learning Solutions.
