You can embed video and audio using the Atto text editor, although you won't be able to simply paste a URL. The Atto editor is not available for user-generated resources or workspaces, so you will need to use the Weka editor.
Firstly, edit the section to which you want to add media (e.g. a label in a course) and follow these steps:
- Select the video icon ().
- Select the appropriate tab (Video or Audio).
- Paste the URL of your media content, or use the Browse repositories... button to search your repositories or upload the file.
- Configure the settings to your preferences (including Advanced settings such as auto-playing and looping).
- Click the Insert media button once you're done.
The media will be added to your content. Complete the rest of the steps for adding the label or other content.
Deleting embedded files in the Atto editor
It's important to note that if you have embedded files using the file picker, simply deleting those files in the editor will not remove them from your site. Although many unused files are detected and deleted automatically after a period of time, there are others that stay attached to the resource or activity if they are not properly removed.
When you need to delete any embedded media it is recommended that you safely remove the files manually using the Manage files button. This way the files won't be part of the course data when performing backups, and they won't take up storage space.
To safely remove media embedded with the file picker, follow these steps:
- Click the Manage files button ().
- In the Manage files dialog you can see if there are files that are not being used in the Unused files section.
- Tick the checkbox next to the file(s) you want to delete.
- Click Delete selected files.
- You can then close the dialog and save your changes.
