Drag and drop into text questions require Learners to select and move text into position to complete a sentence or excerpt of text. When building a drag and drop into text question, use double square brackets to indicate the blank areas. Add the correct word for each blank area in the choices area.
To set up a drag and drop into text question, follow these steps:
- In the quiz activity, click Add, then select a new question.
- Select Drag and drop into text, then click Add.
- Give the question a name, then enter the question in the Question text field. To add a blank space in the question text (where the choices will be placed), enter a number between double square brackets, e.g. 'Jessica likes to [[1]] mountains.'
- Set the Default mark, i.e. how many marks the Learner will be awarded if they answer correctly.
- For each of the Choice fields, enter the answer that corresponds with the number of the appropriate blank space in the question text. You can make the question more challenging by adding more choices that don't have a corresponding number in the question text. Optionally group the choices, and tick the Unlimited checkbox if users should be able to select a choice more than once.
- Either enter feedback for correct, partially correct and incorrect answers in the Combined feedback section, or use the General feedback field.
- If required, configure the Multiple tries and Tags sections.
- Click Save changes.
