# Enable the external API

As a Site Administrator, you can enable the [external API](/19/docs/what-is-the-external-api) for your site by following these steps:

1. Navigate to *Quick-access menu > Configure features*.
2. In the **Shared service settings** section, scroll down and check the **Enable API** setting.
3. Click **Save changes**.
