# Enable badges on your site

In order to use open badges the feature must be enabled. The badges functionality is enabled by default, but may be disabled or re-enabled within **Configure features** via the quick-access menu.

To enable open badges, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Configure features > Shared services settings.*
2. Tick **Enable badges.**
3. Click **Save changes**.
