# Move and reorder categories

If you need to move a [category](/19/docs/what-are-categories) or subcategory, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Courses and categories.*
2. Check the boxes next to any categories you want to move. You can move multiple categories at once.
3. Using the **Move selected categories to** dropdown, select the new parent category for your selected categories, or select **Top** if you want the categories to top-level categories.
4. Click **Move**.

If you want to change the order of categories and subcategories, select the arrow icons on the **Course and category management** page.
