# What are job assignments?

Users may hold any number of job assignments, with each assignment optionally linked to a position, organisation, manager, appraiser, and/or a temporary manager. Job assignments can be created and updated manually via a user's profile or HR import.

As a Site Administrator, you can [create](/19/docs/create-a-job-assignment), [update](/19/docs/update-a-job-assignment), and [delete](/19/docs/delete-a-job-assignment) job assignments manually. If you are using [HR import](/19/docs/what-is-hr-import) then you can also add, update and delete job assignments via a CSV file upload or direct database connection to an HR system.
