# Add a legacy seminar notification

This notification system is now a legacy feature. Please see [Using centralised notifications](/totara-20/docs/using-centralised-notifications) for details on using the modern notification system. You can also view our [Transitioning to new seminar notifications](/totara-20/docs/transitioning-to-new-seminar-notifications) guidance. 

You can add a legacy notification to a [seminar activity](/totara-20/docs/what-are-seminars) by following these steps:

1. Open the seminar activity for which you wish to add a notification.
2. Under **S****eminar administration** go to **Legacy notifications***.*
3. Click the **Add** button under the list of notifications.
4. Configure the desired [settings](/totara-20/docs/seminar-notification-settings).
5. Click **Save**.

After creating a notification you can:

- **Edit** with the cog icon(![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1646133816644.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A37Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F4uNvdgKhSOfI45WthzWiIw%2FUZGvR9yVLL0UXzRK0%2Fg%3D)) to change any of the settings or message content.
- **Set inactive/active** ( ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1646133816834.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A37Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F4uNvdgKhSOfI45WthzWiIw%2FUZGvR9yVLL0UXzRK0%2Fg%3D)/![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1646133817021.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A37Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F4uNvdgKhSOfI45WthzWiIw%2FUZGvR9yVLL0UXzRK0%2Fg%3D)) using the eye icon. The open eye indicates the notification is active, and the closed eye indicates the notification is inactive. Click the icon to toggle between these options.
- **Duplicate** with the icon of two pieces of paper (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1646133817212.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A37Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F4uNvdgKhSOfI45WthzWiIw%2FUZGvR9yVLL0UXzRK0%2Fg%3D) ) to create another version of the message.
- **Delete** with the cross icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1646133817400.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T07%3A05%3A37Z&se=2026-11-06T08%3A05%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F4uNvdgKhSOfI45WthzWiIw%2FUZGvR9yVLL0UXzRK0%2Fg%3D)) to remove the notification.
