To do this, follow these steps: 1. Navigate to *Quick-access menu > Plugins > Filters > Manage filters* and ensure that the **Multilanguage content** filter is set to **On**. 2. While editing the **Body** field of a notification, click the globe icon (![Multilanguage content icon.](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1638887746640.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T05%3A40%3A53Z&se=2026-11-06T06%3A40%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=z7FENmfJTuxgPWkME7JpO%2BzMLmmdZzhWuCPOo6k7rMg%3D)). You can also add multi-language content in the **Subject** or **Body** field by using the keyboard shortcut **ctrl + M**. 3. Click the edit icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1638887705177.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T05%3A40%3A53Z&se=2026-11-06T06%3A40%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=z7FENmfJTuxgPWkME7JpO%2BzMLmmdZzhWuCPOo6k7rMg%3D)) for one of the sections in the language block. 4. Enter the **Lang code**. 5. Enter the content for the appropriate language in the **Content** field. 6. Click **Save**. Each multi-language block can contain the content for all of your languages. When the notification is sent, the content from the appropriate language section will be selected. When a built-in notification is sent, the notification system gets the subject and body content from the language pack for the recipient's language. However, if an administrator edits a built-in notification and overrides either the subject or body, all the translations except for the language being edited, are effectively lost and need to be specified using the process described above. ![Adding notification content in three languages.](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1638887405446.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T05%3A40%3A53Z&se=2026-11-06T06%3A40%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=z7FENmfJTuxgPWkME7JpO%2BzMLmmdZzhWuCPOo6k7rMg%3D) ![Course badge](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/course-badge_notifications.svg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T05%3A40%3A53Z&se=2026-11-06T06%3A40%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=z7FENmfJTuxgPWkME7JpO%2BzMLmmdZzhWuCPOo6k7rMg%3D)The Totara Academy has a whole course dedicated to [Notifications](https://totara.community/course/view.php?id=706) in Totara.
