Add skills to a program

Competencies (skills from Totara 20) are a legacy content type for programs in Totara 18 onward. If you want to add skills to a program, go to Quick-access menu > Configure features > Learn settings and check the Enable legacy program content setting.

When creating a program, you will need to add the content you want learners to complete.

If you want to add skills to your program, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the program and select the Content tab.

  2. Select Skill from the Add a new dropdown menu and click Add.

  3. Browse through the skill framework(s) or Search for a specific skill. Note that you can only add skills with linked courses. 

  4. Click on the name of the skill to be added.

  5. The selected skill will be displayed at the top of the dialogue box.

  6. Click Ok to complete the skill selection or Cancel to exit.

  7. Complete the skill set settings.

  8. Repeat steps 2-7 to add another Skill.

  9. Select Save changes.

Courses linked to the selected skill will automatically be added to the set.
