# Assign organisations to users

[Organisations](/totara-20/docs/what-are-organisations) can be assigned to users in bulk using the [HR import](/totara-20/docs/what-is-hr-import) organisation source, or to individual users by editing their profile.

To assign an organisation to a user via the user profile, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Users.*
2. Click the user's name to access their profile.
3. Click **Add job assignment**.
4. Click **Choose organisation**.
5. Navigate to the organisation item in the organisation hierarchy, or select **Search** to find the organisation.
6. Click **OK** to assign the organisation.
