Clone a certification

Instead of creating a new certification, you may want to duplicate an existing certification. Any users with the Clone program (totara/program:cloneprogram) capability can duplicate a program. To duplicate a program, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the certification either by:

    1. Going to the Explore catalogue, clicking on the specific certification, then clicking the three dots () in the top-right corner of the page and selecting Edit certification details.

Certification overview page showing the certification title and a list of requirement stages.

    2. Go to Quick-access menu > Certifications, then clicking the certification category containing the certification to be cloned and clicking the cog icon () for the certification.

  2. Click the three dots () in the top-right corner of the page and select Clone certification.

Certification details page showing navigation tabs and a menu with management options.

  3. Select the components you want to copy from the following:

    • Copy details

    • Copy content

    • Copy notifications

  4. Click Clone.

Note that certification assignments and completion records cannot be cloned.

If you have the Edit certification capability you can now configure the new certification as required (users without this capability will instead see the Overview tab). By default the new certification will be hidden. You can now update the Full name and Short name, and give the certification a new Certification ID.
