# Configure Totara goal notifications

[Totara goal](/totara-20/docs/what-are-goals) notifications are configured at the site or tenant level. Note that no Totara goal [notifications](/totara-20/docs/what-are-centralised-notifications) are available by default, so you will need to create any notifications you wish to use.

## Create a notification

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Notifications*.
2. Expand the **Totara goals** section.
3. Select the notification trigger for the notification you wish to edit.
4. Click **Create notification**.
5. Complete the [settings](/totara-20/docs/notification-settings) and add your notification content.
6. Click **Save**.

## Edit a notification

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Notifications*.
2. Expand the **Totara goals** section.
3. Select the notification trigger for the notification you wish to edit.
4. Click the icon of three dots (![three_dots(1)](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/three_dots(1).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A09%3A34Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A09%3A34Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=7jM7eHwJeKeMzrx4tL60GTlMVtYNogMCvv0xWCUbPsM%3D)) next to the notification, then select **Edit**.
5. Complete the [settings](/totara-20/docs/notification-settings) and add your notification content.
6. Click **Save**.

Now, whenever this notification is triggered the new settings will be used.
