Site Administrators can configure a number of settings specific to Totara Skills. These settings are configured centrally and apply across the whole site.
To configure the general settings for Totara Skills, follow these steps:
Navigate to Quick-access menu > Plugins (/admin/plugins.php).
Under Local plugins, select Totara Skills, then select General.
Configure the general settings (first enabling Totara Skills if it isn’t already enabled) as required.
Select Save changes.
Totara Skills general settings
The following settings can be configured:

Enable Totara Skills | Globally enables or disables Totara Skills across the site. | When disabled, end users will not be able to access Totara Skills features, and background processing is paused. Disabling Totara Skills does not remove or delete any stored data. |
Allow attachments | Enables or disables the ability to add attachments to a skill. | - |
Accepted attachment file types | A comma-separated list of allowed file extensions, MIME types, or file type groups. | Use image/*, audio/*, or video/* to allow all files in those groups, or * to allow all file types. |
Maximum attachments per user and skill | Set the maximum number of attachments that can be uploaded for one skill and user. | - |
Position groups | Defines position groups that can later be assigned to individual positions. Enter one group per line. | Positions are grouped accordingly on the Career path view. |
Position recommendation limit | Sets the maximum number of positions that can be recommended to a user on the Career path view. | - |
