# Declare and withdraw interest in a seminar

Where a seminar activity has the **Declare interest** option enabled, a **Declare interest** link will be displayed underneath **View all events** when viewing the seminar activity from the course home page. Alternatively, within the event dashboard (visible via **View all events**) a **Declare interest** button displays under the events listing.

The **Declare interest** button is now available when using the **Seminar direct enrolment** plugin. This means that learners can declare their interest in a seminar event without already being enrolled on a course, so you can get a better idea of the interest level across your site's users, instead of just enrolled users.

Learners can declare interest by following these steps:

1. Navigate to the seminar event on the course page, or the event dashboard.
2. Briefly outline why you want to participate in the event using the **Reason for interest** text field.
3. Click **Confirm**.
4. After confirming, you will return to the course page and the **Withdraw interest** link will now display under the corresponding event.
5. If you change your mind and would like to withdraw, click the **Withdraw interest** link, then **Confirm**.

Declarations of interest can be viewed by Site Administrators, Editing Trainers, and Trainers via the **Seminar interest** report.
