# Delete a job assignment

If you no longer want a user to have a particular [job assignment](/totara-20/docs/what-are-job-assignments) (perhaps the person has moved jobs) then you can delete their job assignment.

To remove a job assignment, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Users.*
2. Click the name of the user whose job assignment you wish to delete.
3. Under the **Job assignments** section, click the cross icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1635935763043.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T10%3A35%3A27Z&se=2026-11-01T11%3A35%3A27Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=oSazfPpn98S%2BdEXWk6TOmuscmUCuoP%2FEQrpo1kVFPfA%3D)) next to the job assignment you want to delete.
4. Select **Yes, delete** in the dialog to confirm the deletion of the job assignment.

When deleting a job assignment you will be provided with information about the effects that this will have on other users, for example, if it will leave someone else without a manager or temporary manager.

Users without a manager or temporary manager will be prevented from attending seminar events requiring manager approval.
