This is useful if you want to have similar rules but with slight changes. ## From the site As a Site Administrator you can duplicate event monitoring rules at the site level by following these steps: 1. Go to *Quick-access menu >* *Server > Event monitoring rules.* 2. Click the icon of two pieces of paper (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/clone_icon(1).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T12%3A56%3A03Z&se=2026-11-01T13%3A56%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=9tJ027XGr%2FlJdUhV1BnZ8i%2BvZVBcl4evvw08y1eD%2B%2BE%3D)) next to the rule you wish to duplicate. Your duplicated rule will then appear in the list and you can make any required changes. ## **From a course** As a Trainer you can duplicate any monitoring rules (including site rules), so that you can edit them to suit your course context. 1. Go to the course in which you wish to duplicate the rule. 2. From the **Administration** block go to *Course administration > Reports > Event monitoring rules.* 3. ## Next steps - [Event monitoring rule settings](/totara-20/docs/event-monitoring-rule-settings) - [Delete an event monitoring rule](/totara-20/docs/delete-an-event-monitoring-rule) - [Subscribe to an event monitoring rule](/totara-20/docs/subscribe-to-an-event-monitoring-rule) ![Course badge](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/course-badge_reports-reporting.svg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-01T12%3A56%3A03Z&se=2026-11-01T13%3A56%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=9tJ027XGr%2FlJdUhV1BnZ8i%2BvZVBcl4evvw08y1eD%2B%2BE%3D) Get involved in the conversation about [Reporting](https://totara.community/container/type/workspace/workspace.php?id=538) on the Totara Community.
