# Edit a program

Once a [program has been created](/totara-20/docs/create-a-program-1-1) it is still possible to make changes by editing the program, although be aware that if a program is live (this occurs when learners are assigned), any changes made will affect the assigned learners.

To edit one of your programs, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu >* *Program**s (totara/program/manage.php).*
2. Select the name of the category (or subcategory) in which the program sits.
3. Select the cog icon ( ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-WK2QO5O5.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-29T19%3A00%3A15Z&se=2026-10-29T20%3A00%3A15Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=pFDPQX6XWduDcvLI%2Bfe8Y9xMTynPIQNo7DdGMKk%2B9DE%3D)) for the required program.
4. Edit the program [**Details**](/totara-20/docs/program-details-1-1)**,** [**Requirements**](/totara-20/docs/program-requirements)**,** [**Assignments**](/totara-20/docs/assign-learners-to-a-program-or-certification-4-1) and [**Notifications**](/totara-20/docs/managing-program-and-certification-notifications) as required.
5. Select **Save changes** on each page to save any edits or **Cancel** to discard the changes.

A program can also be deleted, moved up or down the program listing page, or hidden using the corresponding icons in the **Edit** column.

Programs can also be moved to another category within the category program listing. Click the check box under the **Select** column, and using the **Move selected programs to…** dropdown, select the category to move the program(s) to.
