# Edit grade outcomes and outcome items

## Edit outcomes

You can edit any [grade outcomes you have created](/totara-20/docs/set-up-grade-outcomes) by following these steps:

1. Navigate to the list of outcomes.
  - For site-level outcomes, go to *Quick-access menu > Grades > Outcomes.*
  - For course-level outcomes, go to the course, click on **Outcomes** from the **Course administration menu**. then click **Edit outcomes**.
2. Click the cog icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-7L5TV6ZK.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-03T20%3A21%3A43Z&se=2026-11-03T21%3A21%3A43Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kCMVBFIBJUpjHcSbmU4%2BH1btVaPo0%2F7vk1OMJYFtgqA%3D)) alongside the outcome.
3. Configure the [settings](/totara-20/docs/grade-outcome-settings).
4. Click **Save changes.**

You can also delete an outcome you have created in the same location by clicking the cross icon (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-1634905911259.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-03T20%3A21%3A43Z&se=2026-11-03T21%3A21%3A43Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kCMVBFIBJUpjHcSbmU4%2BH1btVaPo0%2F7vk1OMJYFtgqA%3D)).

## Edit a grade outcome item

In the gradebook (![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-FJC97NEW.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-03T20%3A21%3A43Z&se=2026-11-03T21%3A21%3A43Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kCMVBFIBJUpjHcSbmU4%2BH1btVaPo0%2F7vk1OMJYFtgqA%3D) ) you can edit the settings for an individual outcome grade item following these steps:

1. In the gradebook click **Turn editing on**.
2. 3. Configure the [settings](/totara-20/docs/grade-outcome-settings).
4. Click **Save changes**.
