Add an activity tag

Article Summary

You can add activity-level tags to individual activities. Activity-level tags can be used when reporting on activities across your site. For example, you could tag any activities that users must complete with a 'Mandatory' tag, while other activities have an 'Optional' tag. This would allow you to easily report on essential activities within your courses.

Tags can be added when creating an activity or resource or when editing content. The instructions below focus on editing an existing activity or resource to avoid detailing the steps for activity or resource creation.

  1. Go to the course you wish to add the tag(s) from.
  2. Click Turn editing on
  3. Click Edit > Edit settings alongside the activity or resource you wish to add tags from.
  4. Scroll down to the Tags section.
  5. You can either:
    • Type a new or existing tag into the Enter tags... text-input box.
    • Click Manage standard tags which will give you the option to edit the Default collection (Site Administrators only).
  6. Click Save and return to course or Save and display.

You can report on activity-level tags using activity-level report sources (such as SCORM and Feedback Summary) in the report builder.

Any tags created in this way by a Site Administrator will be 'standard' tags, meaning they can be used by anyone on the site.
