# Export skills

Site Administrators can export all [skills](/totara-20/docs/what-are-competencies) (grouped by framework) and their associated fields in either the Excel, CSV or .ods format.

To export your site's skills, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Skills*.
2. Select the name of the skill framework you wish to export from.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to **Export all items from framework** and choose the required format.
4. Click **Export all items**.

The export file content structure is suitable for use in [HR Import](/totara-20/docs/what-is-hr-import). You can use HR import to add or update skills.
