When creating or editing a position (also known as a position item) the following settings are available.

Parent | The Parent setting allows you to build parent-child relationships between the individual positional items in your hierarchy framework. You must have at least one position item set up in your framework for this option to be available. The default value is Top. | Only appears once you have at least one position in the framework. |
Name | The name of the position is normally a job title or role. | - |
Position ID number | The Position ID number is a unique number used to represent the position. This is an optional field. | - |
Description | A free-text field for providing more details about this position. This data is displayed when viewing the hierarchy listing, and the individual position page. | - |
Type | Types are containers for custom fields. When you assign a position to a type, the position inherits the custom fields associated with it. This is an optional field, so this can be left blank or set later. | See Create a position type for more information. |
Business critical | Marks the position as business critical within the organisation. | This setting affects reporting only, displaying an icon in relevant insights. |
Strategic | Marks the position as strategic within the organisation. | This setting affects reporting only, displaying an icon in relevant insights. |
Top candidates skills match threshold | Defines the minimum percentage of skills match required for users who do not have this position in their career path to be recommended for the position. | Candidates whose skills match is below the configured threshold are not suggested for this position. This setting affects reporting only. |
Top candidates limit | Defines the maximum number of candidates that can be suggested for this position. | If 0 is entered, no limit is applied and all matching candidates are suggested. This setting affects reporting only. |
Time to readiness taxonomy | Selects the time to readiness taxonomy used to group users based on how quickly they achieve full proficiency in this position. | This setting affects reporting only, for calculating and displaying time to readiness in relevant insights. |
Position group | Selects the position group to which the position belongs. | This setting is used to group positions when selecting an aspirational position in career paths. Configuring it is optional. |
