# Reclassify positions in bulk

Bulk reclassification allows you to reclassify all [positions](/totara-20/docs/what-are-positions) (also known as position items) assigned to a particular position type to another position type. This can be done via the bulk action menu or on the **Manage types** page.

## Via the bulk action menu

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Positions.*
2. Click **Manage positions**.
3. Click the name of the position framework for which you want to reclassify positions.
4. Select **Re-classify items** from the **Bulk actions** dropdown list.
5. This opens the **Manage position types** page.
6. Scroll down to the **Bulk reclassification** section.
7. Select the type you wish to reclassify from the dropdown box (this action reclassifies all positions that currently have this type assigned to them).
8. On the **Reclassifying** page you can see the number of positions you are reclassifying.
9. Click **Choose** next to the type to which you wish to reclassify your selected type.
10. Click **Re-classify items** on the confirmation screen.

The positions have now been reclassified.

## Via manage types page

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Positions.*
2. Click **Manage types**.
3. Scroll down to the **Bulk reclassification** section.
4. Select the type you wish to reclassify from the dropdown box (this action reclassifies all positions that currently have this type assigned to them).
5. On the **Reclassifying** page you can see the number of positions you are reclassifying.
6. Click **Choose** next to the type you wish to have reclassified.
7. Click **Reclassify items** on the confirmation screen.

The positions have now been reclassified.
