As a Site Administrator you can upload multiple [audiences](/totara-20/docs/what-is-an-audience) at once using a CSV (comma-separated values) file. You can create an audience at either the site-wide (system) context, or if you have Totara Learn, in the course category context. > Note: Upload an audience is to create or upload new audiences in bulk. It does not include uploading users in bulk to an audience. You can bulk add users to an audience by using the cohort field following the [uploading a user](/totara-20/docs/available-fields-for-uploading-a-user) process. To upload an audience (or audiences), follow these steps: 1. Create an [audience CSV text file](/totara-20/docs/available-audience-upload-fields) for uploading (this file must include a **name** column with the name of each new audience on a new line). 2. Go to *Quick-access menu > Audiences*. 3. Select the **Upload audiences** icon ( ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-IPEPUBML.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A55%3A45Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A55%3A45Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=SOV6SoIdO%2F4%2FKhR1s62E64dAwKD2aet9e1Xr9UEzRv8%3D) ). 4. Add a file to upload and configure the [settings](/totara-20/docs/audience-upload-settings). 5. Click the **Preview** button to review the upload settings and check for any errors. If errors are reported with the file, correct these as needed. 6. Click **Upload audiences****.** 7. Click **Continue** on the confirmation screen. The audiences will now be created on your site. ![Course badge](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/course-badge_audiences.svg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A55%3A45Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A55%3A45Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=SOV6SoIdO%2F4%2FKhR1s62E64dAwKD2aet9e1Xr9UEzRv8%3D)Why not visit the Totara Academy for our latest course on [Audiences](https://totara.community/mod/page/view.php?id=24689) in Totara.
