Using LinkedIn Learning content in other courses

There are two ways to use LinkedIn Learning content in Totara Learn courses. You can either import a LinkedIn Learning course as a course activity, or you can convert a LinkedIn Learning course you have imported from a single-activity course to a multi-activity course, then add other Totara activities and resources as required.

For either of these methods you need to have set up the LinkedIn Learning integration.

Add LinkedIn Learning content as a course activity

You can add LinkedIn Learning courses as activities in your existing Totara Learn courses. Ensure you have created the required courses before adding LinkedIn Learning courses.

To add a LinkedIn Learning course as an activity, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the course and click Turn editing on.
  2. Click Add an activity or resource in the section to which you would like to add the LinkedIn Learning content.
  3. Select Content marketplace, then click Add.
  4. Select Add an activity from the LinkedIn Learning content marketplace.
  5. You will now see the LinkedIn Learning content marketplace. Search for and select the LinkedIn Learning course you want to add to your Totara course. Note that you can only select a single course using this method.
  6. Click Add activity (or Cancel if you want to choose a different course).

  7. You will then be taken back to the Totara course, and you will see a message confirming that the content was successfully added.

Convert LinkedIn Learning courses to multi-activity courses

By default, LinkedIn Learning courses will be set up using the single-activity course format. If you want to include the LinkedIn Learning course with other Totara activities, you can change the course format by following these steps:

  1. Go to Course administration > Edit settings.
  2. Expand the Course format section.
  3. Select Topics format from the Format dropdown.
  4. Configure the other settings as required.
  5. Click Save and return or Save and display.

You can now add other activities and content to the course from the course page.

Alternatively, you could back up a LinkedIn course (Administration > Content marketplace activity administration > Backup) then restore it into another course.

If you change a single-activity LinkedIn Learning course to a multi-activity course, the course view will now display the correct course completion percentage factoring in the progress of any LinkedIn Learning activities.
