# View report default columns

When [creating a new report](/totara-20/docs/create-a-user-report) it is easy to see the default columns included in the report source.

1. Click **Reports** in the top navigation bar.
2. Select the **Create report** button to create a new report.
3. Find the report source you want (you can use the filtering options, including **Search** located on the left-hand side).
4. Click the title of your chosen report source to see the list of **Default columns.**

You can then choose to **Create and view** that report (if you don't want to make changes) or **Create and edit** to add or remove columns to better suit your specific requirements.
