The organisation heatmap gives L&D/HR teams, leaders and managers a visual way to review skill metrics across organisations, audiences, positions and users. It highlights proficiency, upcoming expiry, and expired skill data using colour-coded cells, making it easy to identify skill gaps or areas of strength at a glance.
The heatmap supports the following metrics for organisations, audiences and positions:
Proficiency: The percentage of users who are proficient in a given skill
About to expire: The percentage of users whose proficiency in a given skill is about to expire
Expired: The percentage of users whose proficiency in a given skill has expired
For individual users, the heatmap displays either the skill status or the achieved skill level for each assigned skill.
To view the organisation heatmap, follow these steps:
Go to People > Skills overview.
By default, the heatmap metric is set to Proficiency and skills are grouped by frameworks. You can alternatively group skills by competency role.
Review the heatmap columns, which display organisations, positions, or audiences. Note that the Ungrouped column displays users who are assigned directly to an organisation rather than to one of its child organisations.
Use the search field to find a specific organisation, position, or audience.
Filter the heatmap by clicking Filters and selecting one or more organisations, positions, or audiences.
If you change the heatmap metric from Proficiency to Expired or About to expire, note that the colour scale is inverted because higher percentages indicate a less desirable outcome. For example, a high proficiency percentage is positive, while a high expired percentage highlights a risk.

Using the organisation skills heatmap
The rows in the heatmap represent skills that are assigned to at least one user:
Skills are grouped by their parent skill by default, but can also be grouped by competency roles
Within each group, only skills without child skills are displayed
Skills that do not belong to a parent group are displayed under Ungrouped
Expand a group to view all skills that belong to it

You can continue to drill down further into the hierarchy by selecting column headings, all the way down to individual users. Once user-level data is reached, the heatmap displays a status icon by default for each skill assigned to each user. Hovering over a status icon shows its status name.
Use the filters to narrow down the skills displayed
Use the search field to find a specific user
You can navigate back up through the hierarchy using the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
A white cell displaying a dash ("-") indicates that the skill is not assigned to any users in that organisation, position, or audience. Hover over a cell to view the underlying percentage.
Note that this view is optimised for desktop browsers.
Reviewing heatmap values
The heatmap displays the following calculated values:
For each organisation, position, or audience, the overall percentage of proficient skills
For each skill group within an organisation, position, or audience, the percentage of proficient skills within that group
For each group, the average proficiency percentage across all organisations, positions, or audiences
For each skill, the percentage of proficient users

Reviewing user-level heatmap values
For each user, the overall percentage of proficient skills is displayed
For each group for a user, the percentage of proficient skills within that group is displayed
For each group, the average proficiency percentage across all users is displayed
For each skill, the percentage of proficient users is displayed

Switch display mode
The heatmap can be switched to By achievement level mode to display achievement levels instead of status icons:
Each skill is represented by a circular level indicator
The indicator is divided into segments based on the number of levels defined for the skill
Filled segments represent the level the user has achieved
The colour of the filled segments reflects the current skill status
Hovering over the indicator displays the skill status
Export the heatmap
You can export the heatmap as a CSV or PDF file by clicking the three-dot icon (
) in the top-right corner and selecting a file format. If filters have been applied to the heatmap, the exported file reflects those filters.
