Best practice for generating content with the AI form assistant

The AI Assistant within the Weka editor provides three integrated tools that help Totara users create, refine and enhance content efficiently. To get the best results, follow these best practice tips for each feature:

Summarise

What it does: Generates a short summary of the existing content in the Weka editor.

Best practice:

  • Use when content exceeds a few paragraphs and you need a quick overview or a summary for a course description.

  • Ensure the editor only contains the content you want summarised – remove unrelated sections before running the tool.

  • Edit the AI-generated summary to align with your voice, tone, and audience expectations.

Example use case:

  • Summarising course learning outcomes.

  • Generating executive summaries from long meeting notes or report content.

  • Extracting key points from policy documents or compliance content for quick reference.

Generate

What it does: Produces a new block of content based on a natural language prompt.

Best practice:

  • Be specific in your prompt. For example, instead of “Write an introduction,” try “Write a 2-paragraph course introduction for a health and safety module aimed at office workers.”

  • Use it to jumpstart content creation—then refine the result for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with your organisation’s style.

  • Combine with other AI tools like Summarise to iteratively refine content.

Example use cases:

  • Writing course introductions or summaries.

  • Drafting descriptions for learning plans or performance activities.

Generate image

What it does: Creates a royalty-free image based on a written prompt, directly in the Weka editor.

Best practice:

  • Be descriptive with your prompts. Include details like subject, setting, and style (e.g., “a flat-style illustration of a team meeting in an office”).

  • Review the image before publishing to ensure it aligns with your content tone and accessibility needs.

  • Use images sparingly to support comprehension and avoid visual clutter.

Example use cases:

  • Adding visuals to make course pages more engaging.

  • Creating icons or section headers for learning modules.
