# Combine tags

Within a tag collection you can combine [tags](/totara-20/docs/what-are-tags) with similar names into a single tag.

1. Go to *Quick-access > Appearance > Manage tags.*
2. Click the name of the tag collection containing the tags you wish to combine.
3. Tick the boxes alongside the tags you wish to combine.
4. Click the **Combine selected** button.
5. Select the tag you wish to be shown after the combination.
6. Click **Continue** to combine the selected collections.
