# Create a dashboard

[Dashboards](/totara-20/docs/what-is-a-dashboard) allow content to be displayed on selected users' home pages. Dashboards can be assigned to audiences and users can select and customise their assigned dashboards if allowed.

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Configure features* > *Shared service settings.*
2. Set **Enable Totara Dashboard** to **Show**.
3. Then go to *Quick-access menu > Navigation > Dashboards*.
4. Click **Create dashboard.**
5. Add the following information:
  - **Name:** A description of the dashboard so assigned users know the who the dashboard is aimed at
  - **Locked:** Assigned users will not be able to customise their dashboard when locked, while an unlocked dashboard can be customised by users
  - **Allow guest access:** Allow guests users to view the dashboard
6. Choose an option for **Assigned audiences - Availability**:
  - **Available to no users**
  - **Available to all logged in users**
  - **Available only to the following audiences**
7. Select **Assign new audiences.**
8. Select **Save changes.**
