# Delete an organisation

If you no longer want or need an [organisation item](/totara-20/docs/create-an-organisation) then you may decide to delete it.

To delete an organisation item, follow these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Organisations.*
2. Click **Manage organisations**.
3. Click the name of the organisation framework containing the item you wish to delete.
4. Click the cross icon (![thin_cross](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/thin_cross.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-29T20%3A36%3A01Z&se=2026-10-29T21%3A36%3A01Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=lbcRDwpDcw8dS%2Ft7fzr3GhXJq%2Fz016g2GboTVysBTOc%3D)) in the **Actions** column for the organisation item.
5. A warning message is displayed, click **Yes** to confirm.
