# Edit a skill

After you have [created a skill](/totara-20/docs/add-a-competency) you may later want to make changes to it. You can edit any of the skills in your framework by following these steps:

1. Go to *Quick-access menu > Skills*.
2. Click the name of the skill framework you wish to update.
3. Click the edit icon ( ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a007399b-031e-436b-999a-528240e16f58/Images/Documentation/image-ZNR7LNC9.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T06%3A53%3A26Z&se=2026-11-06T07%3A53%3A26Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ek9hzvxV3w0jyUzz0NwVrMXQE%2BRJpGyrvv5msRMjMtw%3D) ) in the **Actions** column for the corresponding skill item.
4. Make the required changes to the [settings](/totara-20/docs/competency-settings).
5. Click **Save changes**.
