# Position type settings

When [creating](/totara-20/docs/create-a-position-type) or [editing](/totara-20/docs/edit-a-position-type) a position type you can configure the following settings.

| **Setting** | **Description** | **Notes** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Type full name | The name of the position type. | - |
| Position type ID number | A unique ID number. | - |
| Position type description | A longer text description of the position type. | - |
