Totara collects a range of data from live production sites, which allows us to make better decisions about how to improve Totara and where to focus development efforts. This data includes information such as:
- Plugin usage
- Configuration settings
- Block usage
- Course configuration
- Roles
- Number of certifications
- Number of job assignments
- Number of course enrolments per month
No personal or sensitive data is collected. The only things that can be used to identify a site are the site URL and the site identifier.
As the usage analytics tool may change over time, the exact data collected will depend on the release version. You can see a summary of the data being collected from a specific site by going to Quick-access menu > System information > Collect usage data.
Note that the product usage analytics are separate to the registration data collected by Totara.
If you have a customer who requires an exemption from providing usage analytics, please speak to your Channel Partner Manager.
